Hi,
i've recently got a PNP nomination with a WP support letter, and my current WP is expiring in a week. I've already received an ITA and submitted all the documents for the PR application, so i'm wondering can i take this WP support letter to the border and get a new one issued while my application is being processed or should i just apply for a BOWP? I dont feel comfortable with the Implied status since i have to travel frequently, so an actual WP would be better. Has anyone done something similar? Any advice is welcome.

Hi uosto09

My consultant said that when I get my nomination I will take my WP support letter to the border, pay the fee and they will give me a WP. Bring all of the information with you that you would submit with a mail application, i.e. bank statement, support letter from your employer, work contract, passport, etc. The border officer will decide how long the WP will be valid for, usually 1 year but my friend was granted a 2-year permit - it's at the officer's descretion.

Be careful, when you cross over the border or leave the country at all, you will immediately lose your implied status. I would advise you to get down and do it before your current WP expires, that way if they say that you need some other document or you forget to bring something, you will still have time to go back into Canada as a worker and back down to the border again.

Good luck!
