Hi there - This may be a very stupid question but just wondering if I can get an answer..We have applied for PR and are trying to work out what we do if we get it - I see that a lot of people go down to the border to activate their PR. The issue is that many years ago I over stayed my J1 in the US and was subsequently refused entry to the US several years later. I don't want to attempt re-entry to U.S. on a border run, if this would jeopardize things with our PR in Canada. Can anyone advise?

You don't actually enter the USA but you DO attempt to, otherwise they couldn't give you an "administrative refusal". In your case, I think "flagpoling" might be a risk.... Maybe a quick flight to Iceland?
