First Landing in Canada to get PR Card

Hi everyone!

This is sort of a silly question so I apologize. I just really want to make sure.

My fiance received his Certificate of Permanent Residence in the mail a few days ago and it says we need to show up in Canada before May 26, 2016. We were not planning on moving to Canada until September (this was based on the average time it takes to get sponsorship approval and the PR process, etc.) and now, unfortunately, can't really move to Canada until then because of job obligations where we are living now (England).

Does anyone know if it's okay if we fly over to Canada before May 26th for a few days, get his PR card, and then fly back to England until September when we are properly ready to move to Canada permanently? I know you only need to be in Canada for 2 out of the 5 years but want to make sure there's no rules I'm missing regarding staying there for 6 months or something when you first arrive.

Thanks so much!

This is ok except for a couple of details. You can't get the new PR card in such a short time, so you will need to make arrangements for it to be sent to family or friends in Canada. They can forward it to you. If a PR card is not available by the time of finally moving to Canada, a Permanent Resident Travel Document will need to be obtained from the UK.
