So i travelled to Europe with my brand new Canadian passport. On my way back to Canada they sent me to the immigration section for additional questions, no difference when I had a pr card and coming back. The immigration officer told me that this may and may not happen in the future but if it happens I can skip the line. (Shaking head)
Does anyone else have the same experience and any specific reason?

You may have been "flagged" in the system. Not sure what redress you have with CBSA. Phone them up and ask them?

Immigration is nothing to do status. Any frequent or sudden short trip or trip during some unusual times when security was alerted on some traveler will trigger immigration scrutiny.
Sometimes they end up questioning wrong people too.
