First Canadian Credit Card?

hello folks.

My girlfriend and I will be arriving at Canada soon, by which time we will go to the bank to set up our bank accounts and financing. Now the problem is how we can apply for a credit card for the first time in Canada? My girlfriend is a student who will be enrolled in a Canadian university.

Just approach any bank as usual and request a credit card. Your girlfriend can go for a student credit card. Depending on your credit history, finances, etc., you may be able to get a credit card without any encumbrances, or you may be required to first go with a "secured" card that is secured with a sum of money they ask you to put in a fixed GIC.
