Hello All - I am moving from NYC to Montreal in Jan 2015 for 1 year. I have BOFA debit card ( $500 USD daily withdrawal limit ) that will be my primary source of cash for the year. Wondering how much CAD cash should I carry for first 2 weeks expenses. I do not want to carry lots of cash from USA as I will need to pay exchange fees in USA while withdrawal from Scotia using BOFA debit card would not cost me any fees.
Here is rough list of major expenses for first 2 weeks :
1. Apartment rent , initial deposit / last month's rent , other rental related fees.
2. Expenses for new mobile connection.
3. Movers expenses , pay local movers to move stuff from Upack relocube to rental apartment
4. New gas connection in rental apartment
5. New electricity connection in rental apartment
6. New Internet connection in rental apartment.
8. Bank account set , minimum deposit for Secured credit card. Separate bank account and credit card for me and my wife
9. Private insurance.
10. Temporary accommodation / Hotel for first few days.
11. Initial apartment expenses , groceries etc.
