If it was an employer-sponsored immigration application, then unfortunately the application will be refused or cancelled. There might be other options to suggest if you share more details about your work history.

A temporary worker who gets fired has the right to stay in Canada until their work permit expires. They have the right to look for another job but they can not start working until they have a new LMO and a new work permit to match.

An immigration application that is based on a job offer, for example skilled worker with job offer or PNP though employer support will most likely be refused if the job offer is no longer there. Immigration classes are do not base on the job offer like CEC for example would continue to run.

If you are a PR yourself and you are hired in Canada by a Canadian employer and posted to a full time overseas position, you and your husband would both keep your PR based on that. You would however not gain the right to apply for citizenship.

If you are a member of the Canadian armed forces or you work for the federal government or a provincial government and are posted to a full time overseas position, your husband may gain the right to apply for citizenship.

I do not know if embassy staff hired overseas as considered to be working for the Canadian government.

No, they are considered Locally engaged staff, and the job doesn't protect their PR status. Only if they were hired by DFait in Canada and posted overseas.
