I was just looking through appendix A where it talks about the police background check. In it I noticed that it has a finger print request letter.

Do you need a set of finger prints for each country you're trying to get a police certificate from? Where do you actually go to get fingerprinted if you're not in your home country (my girlfriend will be living in Canada when we go through this process but her home country is Holland)?

So after reading through the board a little more (which I should have done before) I realized that she doesn't need fingerprints for her police certificate from Holland.

However, while reading through the application guide from the CIC it says that in order to get a police certificate
"When applying for police certificates, you must include for each person:
· a completed Request for Police Certificates/Clearances and Authorization for Release of Information form (Appendix A). (Make enough photocopies foreveryone.)"

Does this mean that she has to submit this form in order to get the certificate? She has already requested the certificate without submitting this form and is coming over this week so I am wondering if she should re-request the certificate using the form in Appendix A?

as far as i know your supposed to get your police clearance certificates from each country that you have lived for more than 6months after your 18th birthday.

So yes she will need a police certificate from Holland.

I had to do the same for my police certificate from england, BUT did not use the forms provided in the CIC immigration forms.

I would suggest that you google it for holland and follow those instructions.

so after a quikc google search she will need a VOG, she can apply for one here:

but i cant read dutch soo... your on your own there ...lol

Hey Aroundtown22 , as other told you , you will need police certificate from each country where you lived for more than 6 month, but not each country require a fingerprints to do it, so you have to check the procedure for each country, and where they need a fingerprints, that means it might take much longer than a routine police clearance, you have to include the cover letter in appendix A, witch will minimize the time to get the police clearance back.
Good luck
