Hi,

I just left Canada yesterday for Asia for 5 weeks. I have just landed & my family told me CIC had sent me a fingerprints request & I have to do it within 30 days (the letter was sent on Jan 18, 2018). What can I do? Any advise? Can I call or email CIC to ask for postpone the fingerprints process? If so, anyone has its number for call from abroad? Or can I do it at Canada consulate?

Thanks a lot

Cheers

If I read my letter correctly, electronic fingerprints are required by CIC. Electronic fingerprints can only be done within Canada. (If ink was allowed, it could be sent in to a company who can send them to RCMP)

The letter says what to do if you can't (contact them, basically). It will probably result in some significant delays, but as long as you contact them I don't think there should be an issue exactly. It'll just delay things.

I might be reading the letter incorrectly though, in which case you can contact an authorized fingerprint company e.g. commissionaires for more info.
