Fingerprints for US police clearance certificate

Currently, I am in Canada on a work permit. For my immigration application, I need to get my fingerprints done for US police clearance certificate, as I was in the US for three years. I have been told that I need to get the hard fingerprint form from the US, itself, for the fingerprints to be done, as the FBI will not accept Canadian forms. Does anyone know if this is correct, and where can I get the forms form. Thanks in advance

If you go to a commissionaires, they will have the correct form for the FBI fingerprints and will do the ink fingerprints for you as opposed to the digital ones that they use for RCMP checks.
