after sending in the application i got fingerprinted because of a dui
will this cause them to deny me as a sponsor?

Since they can look it up, they will see it obviously but I'm not sure if a DUI would be cause for you to not be able to sponsor.

Only if you are convicted and go to jail. If you are in jail your sponsorship would be suspended.
