Just wondering if anyone has used a fingerprint service in the Uk for clearance checks?
I've ordered my forms but i can only find the met police who does the fingerprints and it's a bit of a way to go for me.
So just wondering if anyone in the south of England has used one?
Thanks :)

Hi essex0227

I live in Scotland, so can't advise you of a fingerprint service near you, but here is what I have experienced in the UK: I was advised that the forensics dept at the regional police head offices should provide a fingerprinting service. Mine didn't, but I did ask at my local police office. They reluctantly agreed to do my prints, but complained and grumped through the entire process that it was an outdated service that is rarely used and that they shouldn't really be doing this "for the public"! The prints were terrible and really smudged. In the end I couldn't use them and so decided to take the trip to the Met at New Scotland Yard. I really recommend using their service. They specialise in immigration prints and know exactly what is required. They are very professional and checked each print with a magnifying glass. It is important that your prints are clear as they may be returned otherwise. I needed two sets as I have lived in the USA and Australia, but got an extra set done, just in case. Although it was an extra expense to make the trip to London, in the grand scheme of things, I think it was definitely worth it, even if only for the peace of mind that the prints are correctly done.

Good luck with your quest

:)

My husband was living in London when our application went thru... He was mandated to get his prints done thru Scotland yard (only ones the Jamaican authorities would accept for his jamaican police check)... Not sure if it's true for all, or just prints for other offices, but he had to make an appt which took about a month to get... Something like they only did prints for a few hours on Wednesday's or something... I don't think he needed the Scotland yard prints for the UK report and he got them done somewhere else..,

We used the Thames Valley Police Department in Oxfordshire for fingerprints. They did a good job and we just got back our RCMP check with no problems.

Hey jen

ive been requested to do a RCMP check ive got my fingerprints from new scotland yard, ive also got the c216-c form am i correct in saying that I need to fill out the c216-c forms where i place my name, bith date etc, and the embassys address? even though my finger orints are on the scotland yard forms? as im applying for immigration to canada. ?

im guessing thats what they want as its asked on the website... did you do that by any chance?

ok guys

what i have worked out, essexx hopefully this will help you aswell...

ive got my fingerprints done at new scotland yard using there immigration forms... i sent a photocopy of these fingerprints to the visa office in london, thye sent me back the forms with a stamp saying recorded. so they have proof that i have got my fingerprints done with the forms they sent me a small note saying "we require an RCMP check" ...

so im guessing to what i can work out I post the original fingerprint form along with the c216-c forms filled out as they ask on the website as am applyng for "immigration to canada" and then post the original form and the c216 form over to RCMP in ottawa canada and from that piont on basically sit and wait until they send it over to the embassy and keep an eye on my application status basically to see if a decision is made simple.

am i right in saying this sounds like the procedure? and i dont understand why they are asking for that check form me is it becuase my name is common in canada?
