Fingerprint - RCMP to IRCC Timeline

Hi Everyone,

I received a fingerprint letter on Nov 8 (my tracker says it was sent on Nov 6th). The letter states that I have 30 days from the date of the letter to submit my fingerprints. There's no date on the letter, unfortunately.

I went to the local RCMP to get them done only to find out that they're no longer doing fingerprints.

As a result, I didn't get to Commissionaires in Vancouver until Nov 21.

I still haven't seen an update in my online IRCC tracker indicating that they received the FPs, and the 30 day deadline is approaching tomorrow.

I've found some info on canada.ca that says the 30 day deadline is automatically extended due to RCMP backlogs,
but it doesn't specifically relate to citizenship fingerprint requests.

Has anyone been in this situation before?

And if so have you contacted IRCC, or just waited?

I imagine they have my FP, it's just in line to be processed.

Thank you.

You should’ve contacted RCMP earlier (~10 days after fingerprinting) to ask if they’ve submitted the fingerprints to IRCC.

As it is right now, you’re better off calling IRCC to ask about it. If that fails, a webform is better than nothing.

I called the RCMP and they said my FPs were mailed out on the 28th, and that they take about ten business days to arrive, meaning that they could potentially be about 3 days late.

I asked the person if they thought that was a problem and if my application would be thrown out because of it.

They said "No, if they did that they'd be throwing out thousands of applications."

I'm not going to worry about it.

So it them a week to process it and 10 days for them to get the mail. Now the question is how long for the ircc to process it.

based on personal experience, the best approach is to go to a third-party FP agency. IRCC received and updated my online account exactly 15 days after I submitted my FP.

RCMP send the finger print requests to CCRTIS which takes anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to respond to IRCC.
Ask for your Finger prints tracking number from RCMP to track your request with CCRTIS

Why would it be shorter to process a third-party FP when they would have to submit it to RCMP for processing? I think its all just random... thank goodness they don't throw applications out over FP being late... 4 weeks and still waiting on FP to be received/updated
