I am on H1B visa and I and my family have already cleared the nominee program through Alberta nomination and now need to do finger printing through FBI for the next step (permanent residency/citizenship application).

In all the sites i visited and in various forms it is adviced to do finger printing by ink on a form and then send it to FBI.Which we already did using a private service, paying $ 25 for each application. Now after waiting for 3 weeks the FBI is returning our application with illegible finger printiing remarks.

Now we are confused as to what went wrong.Because in the Canada immigration site and all its forms it is mentioned very clearly to use ink finger printing, which we did using professional people but still it was rejected saying it was illegible.

We are now trying to get the same finger printing from our local police station who adviced us to do it by scanning. We are confused now as to which one will the canadian immigration people will accept, the scanned one or the ink finger printing. Please advice on this.

When you say "finger printing" how exactly do you mean? do you mean getting a criminal record check / enhanced background check? I believe this is what the CIC need for your immigration process. Sending them plain fingerprints will not give them any info. Get a police report/ record / Background check.

Yes Correct. In my thread i forgot to mention that we actually need a background check to be done by FBI for which we need to do the finger printing, and here we are confused as the form says ink printing and police says to do live scan.

So i just want to know which ever way we do the finger printing it is actually the background clearance that matters. Is it this way or they (FBI) might want us to preferably do ink or live scan finger printing. Please advice asap.
