LANDED..........
in May/June 2014
I have applied (NOC 0213) under FSW1 and my application was received on June 14th. If I gets returned, I may have to apply under FSW2. I don't know how hard it is to find a job in Canada form India. I want to explore for next weeks. I have couple of questions related to job finding.

1) Are there any consulting companies similar to those in US that can sponsor visa and place experienced professionals?

2) Does anybody have a list of companies that have a history of hiring from abroad? I know couple of Canadian companies like CGI, QNX, etc. have offices in Bangalore.

I think start-up companies are always willing to go that extra mile to hire the right talent. May be I should look at these as well.

Any help or advise is appreciated.

Thanks

If your application was complete and truthful it is unlikely that it will be returned. Since it was also received on June 14, you do not fall under the new NOC rules.

Finding a job from outside of Canada is nearly impossible. There are a lot of landed PRs within Canada that don't have jobs due to lack of Canadian experience - it is a lament that you will here again and again in these forums. There is a reason why they took IT professionals off the list - a lot of immigrants have applied through the 0213 category.

A lot of companies I have interviewed with said that they cannot check my overseas references because their phones don't call overseas and they do not accept e-mails as references. My personal experience with CGI itself, they only hire people with landed immigrant status. However since many positions with CGI deal with sensitive government work they require citizens or PRs who have 5 years of clean Canadian criminal history.

If you want to look for a job within a large multinational corporation, they best thing you could do is find a job locally and ask for an internal transfer to the overseas branch.

Thanks for valuable advise. I think my application should go through.. ( I have 10+ years of relevant experience, no false information, etc.).

In the last few days I did try to approach few consultants. One of the consultants told me that the market is pretty bad now, and he would get back when it gets better.

I was looking at consultants in Ottawa. This is the list of consultants I found on the net:

I hope it will be useful for people who have already landed.
