Hi all,

I have a PhD in computer science and have been working as a postdoc researcher in this field for a year. I have found it hard to find an appropriate NOC which significant match of duties. The candidates are 2173 which is mainly for software engineers and 4011 which involves a lot of teaching in the duty list. Though I will be teaching a course in the coming semester, I cannot decide what NOC is right for me. Does this mean that Canada does need this occupation and skills so they don't have a more scpecific NOC for it.

Cheers,
Rask

No, it does not mean that, what it means is they send the details of your roles and responsibilities to them and they will mail you back the exact NOC that you should quote for your application.

I didn't quite get your point I think. When you say they send, who exactly do you mean? Also, I have not submitted the express entry yet and just thinking of finding the right NOC. Thanks.

2173 is what u should have as it involve lot of system arch design roles work description. Is ur job full time or just part of PhD study. Did u patent anything as new process , system or concept or algo?

It's fulltime and after PhD. My PhD work was essentially the same thing but I know it does not count.
