Hi

My brother is currently working in India as an Analyst in Finance - operations. He also worked as Derivatives analyst in past. I know, now-a-days contacts play a key role in Canada market to identify the jobs in organization and most of the jobs are not posted in web portals. Could someone help me understand the right approach to apply and attend interviews for migrating.

Kindly advise...

Wish you a very Happy New Year

Hi
You say "interviews for migrating", are you looking for a job that will facilitate you to obtain a work permit or are you planning on appying for?

On the prospects for your brother... He seems to have good experience in the finance area. Is he a CFA? If he is, it greatly improves his chances of landing a job. That said, there's really no specific approach to obtaining a job. I know people that have applied for jobs without networking and were hired. It is mostly about your area of expertise. I'd advise your brother to start his immigration process if he is interested in moving to Canada and while at it he could submit job applications. Obviously if he is not in Canada the contacts won't help much because employers will want to meet (if they're interested). I suggest you share with him sites like www.indeed.ca , www.jobbank.gc.ca, www.fuzehr.com , there's a lot of financial analyst jobs he can apply for and hopefully he'll get lucky. It will help if he is a CFA or at least with a level I

Hello GK,

Has your brother started his application to immigrate to Canada or have a Canadian visa?

If he has and is also planning to land in British Columbia, I encourage him to participate in a free, six week, online job search workshop that includes a module on interview skills for job search. This online workshop is called "Online Pre-arrival Job Search Strategies Workshop" provided by MOSAIC BC.

The neat thing about this workshop is that it is delivered online, which means he can participate from India. Next start date is February, 23rd, 2015. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions at prearrivalservices@mosaicbc.com

In the workshop, a Vancouver-based instructor will share real-life tips and strategies to look for work the Canadian way, explain what employers are looking for, and work one-on-one with you to succeed in job interviews.

You will find an online application form on our website to register for the workshop. Simply email me for the website URL or google "MOSAIC Online Pre-arrival Services".

Good luck!
