Financial/Sponsorship Query

Hey, I am currently living in Peru with my Peruvian wife and we are looking to return to Canada to live and have/raise our family.
my 2 questions are as follows:
#1 as i live in peru i do not have a canadian income but do hold funds in a bank account to cover support needs...will this work instead of having the required canadian employment income?
#2 will i have to show canadian residence (currently have a registered canadian residence at my mother's) while living here in lima.

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated!!

1. Yes, you should show what you expect to survive on.

2. You will need to show proof that you intend to return to Canada when your spouse is granted PR. If you are actually planning to reside with your mother until you get settled in a place of your own, it would be good to have her write a letter in support of this. Any other steps you take towards re-establishment (job search, job offers, business opportunities, registration in school etc) would also be good evidence to include.

a hopefully easy question to answer....................i have a permanent residence card and have been living in lima peru with my wife but i also have a residential address in canada..............when filling out the forms do i use my lima address or my canadian one? I presume I use my lima one right????

Are you a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident? If you are a Canadian citizen you can sponsor her while you are living in Peru. If you are a permanent resident, you will not be able to sponsor her until you are living in Canada.

i am a canadian citizen currently residing in peru with a permanent resident card here. i don't believe i have to be residing in canada to sponsor.
is that correct? I am still seeking info of which address to put on the forms...canadian one or peruvian one?

As a citizen, you can sponsor while residing outside of Canada. If all your correspondence is coming to you, use the Peruvian one. You can use the Canadian one if mail in Peru is unreliable and you prefer to use a more reliable method for getting information sent to you, if there is someone available to collect it and communicate with you about it, of course.

Use your Peruvian address as your residential address, since you are in fact living there. For your mailing address, you can use either your Lima address or your Canadian one - whichever one you want to receive mail from CIC at.
If you use your Peruvian address as your residential address, you will have to provide proof you will return to Canada. You probably can't get around this by using your Canadian address, since even if you do, the visa officer will see you are actually living in Lima and will ask for this proof later anyway.
You don't need an income to sponsor a spouse, but the visa officer will want to see how you plan to support yourselves in Canada, so showing proof of savings is a good idea, as is showing your plans to get a job and plans for where you will live.
