Financial Evaluation Form

Hi there. I hope all is well. I have a question regarding the financial evaluation form I need to fill out. I reckon I am in a bit of a pickle. Here's the situation.

I am sponsoring my wife and I am using form 1283 because she is the only person I am sponsoring. I am not printing out a 'C Option Form' because I haven't lived in Canada for over 10 years. I do not have a co-sponsor. According to what I have read I need to:

"if you are unable to obtain and produce an “Option-C Printout” or if your income reported in this document is less than your minimum necessary income, you will need to provide documentation establishing the amount of income you earned over the period of 12 months preceding the date of your application, such as: pay stubs, if you are employed; a statement of business of activities, if you are self-employed; bank statements, if you have received interest income; statements or certificates, if you have other sources of income (investment, rental, pension, special benefits paid under the Employment Insurance Act, etc.)."

My problem lies in that I am self-employed, but all my income is sent to my wife's bank account. Why my wife's bank account? Because she finds my clients and then gives her bank details to them. It is the easiest way of doing things.

How can I demonstrate that I have the funds to take care of my family? We have well over the minimum requirement, but it is we, not I. For example, in the next 6 months I will make roughly $6,550 a month. All this money is going staright to her bank account. All our savings are under her name. Even the money we deposited for our house ($68,000.00) is in her name. How can I prove that I have the money to care for my family when the document I am filling-out does not want my wife's details because she is the one being sponsored?

Thanks for your help.

Just checking that you are aware of no income requirement in some situations..

You may be eligible to sponsor if:you have an income that is at least equal to the minimum necessary income, the amount of which is published yearly by the Canadian government. You will have to provide us with documents that show your financial resources for the past 12 months and prove you are financially able to sponsor members of the family class. You may solicit the help of a co-signer (must be your spouse or common-law partner). This condition does not apply if you are sponsoring only

* your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner who has no dependent children, or
* your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner whose dependent children have no children of their own, or
* your dependent child who has no children of his or her own.

good luck with your application

Not sure about where you got the 10 years from... an option C printout is just info from your last years tax return. If you filed taxes last year you should have one and have to submit it.

I completely misread that... you need to provide an explanation of why you do not have the option C.

While there are no financial requirements for spousal applications you still need to submit the appropriate documentation.

I have just read all this becuase I am trying to find answers to a similar question:

I am being sponsored by my wife and we both live in the UK. She has lived here (with me) for about 2 years. We have no children so it looks as though we don't need to meet a minimum income requirement.

Do we still need to provide the option C form? Can we just provide bank statements/Pay slips etc from England? (I guess the point is to prove that we have some means eh?)

Thanks for your help! :D

If you have no Canadian income last year you will not have an option C, but you need to supply a letter explaining why.

So even though you send your funds to your wifes account and your self employed you must have recipts for worrk you have done or cancelled cheques to your company, and there is no income requirement for spousal.
even though you dont have to prove the amount of income you still have to prove an income.

Yes, you still have to prove income... even though there is no minimum income requirement on spousal sponsorships.

The form is generalized for all family applications, therefore it is a requirement.

Hello!

So my Canadian husband is about to sponsor me to Canada. We figured out that he does not need to provide the Option C printout.
Do we need to put N/A on the checklist form and then provide an explanation on a separate page why the Option C printout is not enclosed?
It also says to provide a letter from his current employer. Is it enough of a proof of his financial situation???

Thank you a lot!! :)

I was living in Croatia for the past 10 yrs. Mu husband and I came to canada in June. I have been working full time and did not provide the Optioc C printout. I got my employer to write a letter stating yearly salary, and confirmed employment.
I also wrote a letter explaining that I was a non-resident of canada of 10 yrs. I asked people here on this forum for advice.
