Depending on the province there can be rental assistance programs, public housing, foodbanks, subsidized healthcare programsetc. If you have been temporarily disabled but have been working and have proof that you are on a pathway to return to full-time work and will be financially independent that would help an H&C case. Being able to access medical care will be one of the major considerations in a case where the H&C applicant is on ODSP with no possibility of returning to work and getting off ODSP. Not being able to support yourself without government assistance is typically a major issue for H&C applications. Receiving OW is much more of an obstacle than ODSP but in general H&C applicants typically should show how they are benefitting Canada from employment to volunteering and that they are financially self-sufficient without government help. Not sure why you think making jokes about abusing financial assistance programs or financial commitments is funny especially because it can result is serious consequences and impacts everyone else from higher taxes to higher insurance rates, etc.

Case workers can’t magically find affordable housing that doesn’t exist. They can help you identify how to apply to be on the social housing wait list in the city where you are currently living. The social workers is actually doing their job correctly if they have provided information on how to apply to join the list for social housing in your city. You are required to indicate any change in your circumstances that would impact whether your pile qualify for subsidized housing. If you return to work you may no longer qualify for subsidized housing or you may be considered less of a priority. Many have been waiting for over 10 years on certain social housing waitlist. The demand for subsidized housing is much higher than supply.
This is not true I have applied for Sarnia, Chatham Kent, Timminis waiting list is less than 2 years
