Hello guys!

I am inquiring on behalf of my boyfriend who is applying for SP for fall2015. I would like to ask how much money does his parents need to show on Bank Certificate? He's admitted to 4 yr Engr @ but he was told he needed to provide proof of funding that will cover his entire stay (4yrs). That's going to be lots of $$$ in one bank certificate. He ;Ds's paid CAD 18000 of first yr tuition and currently has CAD 20000 on his parents bank excluding their properties and other assets. This is all what he is waiting for before he lodges his application.

That being said, for those people who already submitted their application. I wonder if you only showed proof of fundings for 1st yr? I just don't want him to get denied with insufficient funds.

I hope we could share some experiences with application timeline.

where is he going to stay? If he is staying with you this could help him in proof of funds. He can put $ 0.00 in board and lodging, but you need to make an undertaking letter to support him as well as your bank account, visa and passport. then all will be fine in terms of POF.

the only thing is he should prove that he is a bonafide student. he should make a strong study plan by indicating his plans about his continuing studies. travel history can add-up also plus credentials and IELTS.

Thanks for your response! He will rent an apartment for 800/month. That's why he put $35000 on his bank, of course from his parents on top of his family's properties. He's paid his one year tuition though. He will live on his own pretty much.

Is one year proof of funds + properties enough to show embassy his parents can support him for the entire 4 years? I figured putting all the $$$ for four years on one bank certificate will be lots :-X

Hi Venice, our application for my GF's SP & my OWP recently got approved & we only showed 1st year tuition + 1st year of living expenses for both of us covering rent, food & transportation!
