I am in the process of doing a PR, and sponsorship application for my Thai wife, and myself and just realized I had to file taxes in Canada, but I have not.

For almost 5 years now I have been working in Thailand, and have paid taxes here. I have never filed taxes in Canada since 2007, and am not sure what I have to do. I am a little worried, and want to get this taken care of.

I have no income from Canada.

Need to first determine if you're a resident of Canada, which is a primary determinate of your need to file a return. Have a read of this: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/nnrsdnts/ndvdls/nnrs-eng.html

I would be a non-resident according to the information you provided.
The only thing I have in Canada right now, are my parents (relatives, etc.) and one bank account, and one VISA card. No property, no vehicle, home, etc.. I sold all that before I moved to Thailand.

I need to file, because I need my tax statements for my sponsorship application from what I recall.

Since you are non-resident for tax purpose, you don't have Option C printout from CRA to submit to CIC. Instead, some posters in this forum use their tax statements of the country they were currently residing.

I will see about getting an Option C (if they can fax or mail it to me here), also include my current Thai tax returns for the past few years.
