Hi,
My name is Jessy and I am a Canadian girl but im married to an American guy. We are trying to have him get his permanent residence in Canada through spousal sponsorship but we are so confused and we need help. He is living in the states right now be we want to be together here in Canada as soon as possible. Can anyone help us with figuring all this stuff out? Please!!!

Thank you for sending me those, I do have a couple more questions though:
-Can he start living with me in Canada after we send in the forms or when we get the PRC?
-All together how much will it cost?
-Are the forms able to be sent out all T once?
-Can we fill them out by hand?

Be very careful here. Can he 'live' (i.e. permanently) with you? Not really. Can he try to enter Canada under 'dual intent', which means he can VISIT you for several months and IF / When he gets confirmation of PR, he can activate it and stay. BUT he must maintain strong ties back to the US (apartment, car etc.) as he could be denied entry to Canada if the CBSA agent thinks he has already packed up and is moving for good. I am not certain whether or not he can work in Canada as a visitor without a work permit (I know Brits can't, I just don't know if there is any special dispensation for US citizens, I am sure others will!)

-All together how much will it cost?
All of the fees are on the website. You will also have to pay for a medical etc. As a rough budget, factor about $CAD2,000-ish

-Are the forms able to be sent out all T once?
You must fill all forms and attachments and send them in as one package, you cannot send things in a bit at a time.

-Can we fill them out by hand?
There is one form that needs to be completed on a computer as it generates barcodes. You would be well advised to complete all forms typed out and printed from a computer.

Thank you for all the help, I have a few more questions:
-When sending in my forms, do they need our passports, birth certificates, wedding certificate, etc?
-When sending it in will I be in there for a while to answer questions and such, or just for an hours or so? (just so I can plan around)
-Also, when sending it in does my partner have to be there?
-Do we have to send in the medical with all the forms?
Thank you again, we really appriciate

You really need to read the guide and checklist. This is all explained.

Follow the checklist.

You mail the app in.

No.

Ok, I have read so many different lists that so many people have told me to read and we have been stuck on this for over a year. I was just asking because this is extremely stressful

You can always pay an immigration consultant to the the job..... OR click on this link.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp

Answer the three questions, then you will see the basic guide (IMM 5525), or the complete guide IMM5289 (this is the only guide you need!!)
then youll get a list of documents you need to fill
One of them is the checklist which will tell you EXACTLY what to send
If then youll have specific questions im sure someone here will know

Keep it simple. Its not that hard and you can save a lot of money if you do it yourself
Good luck

BTW its stressful to everyone in here! all the way to the PR.......
