Im a US citizen married to a canadian and she will sponsor me for PR.
When i crossed over i asked for a visitor record for one year but got 6 months and passport stamped.
When we file for PR of course it will take longer than 6 months.
Will i be able to get an extension?
Is applying for PR better to do yourself online or getting an immigration lawyer who will gouge us money wise?

You can not apply for sponsorship online. There are plenty of forms to fill out and for sponsorship, most people send proof of their relationship as well, photos etc.

Getting a lawyer is up to you. It will save you from doing your own homework about which forms to fill out and how because the lawyer will take care of you but of course, you do pay them for that.

If you request an extension stating that you have already applied for sponsorship and are waiting for your PR, you will almost certainly get it approved. If you have not yet applied for sponsorship by the time you have to ask for the extension, they might be wondering what you have been doing for 6 months but still, the first extension, you might get, however, 6 months later, if you still haven't applied, they might not approve the next one.
