I'm currently in canada on a legal study permit but i want to file for an asylum. does it mean that during the process my study permit wont be valid and i wont be able to go to school during that period of time? Also when i'm given the document am i still going to pay international fees? what is your advice for a student on a study pemit visa that lasts for one year(i'm doing a one year college before i go into the main university) and is looking forward to an extension of study visa/permit but also wants to seek for an asylum.

Your study permit will still be valid and you will still be able to go to school. You will continue to pay international student fees.

I believe only if/when you get protected person status you wont have to pay int'l student fees.

Unless you have very strong grounds for asylum please do your research. Claiming asylum has significant consequences even if approved and is a long process.
