Hi everyone – hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. I received SA today, and the accompanying email said that our application has been forwarded to the following visa office abroad, and then listed CPC Ottawa. My partner and I are currently living together in New Zealand (I am Canadian and he is a Kiwi). We selected our VO as Sydney as it was the closest one – does anyone know why our file would have been sent to Ottawa instead? He spent a year in Canada in the past, where we both met… could this have affected it? It’s a bit disappointing as the processing times in Sydney are very quick right now.

Any knowledge would be very much appreciated :)

it "could" be a mistake, as I've read other posters mention they have received 2 emails about where the file is being sent: 1 with the wrong VO, and one with the corrected VO. my suggestion would be to wait a couple of days, and if nothing is received, call the CIC call center to see if it was indeed a mistake. Also, it would be good to find out if syndey sends AOR2. If it was really sent there, and you receive a notice from them, then you know it's there. Ottawa does NOT send AOR2's. I'm not sure if it's common or not for New Zealand applications to go Ottawa. CIC can send them anywhere they want, no matter what we "choose" on our application.
