Hello! I am Iris Socan from Philippines, I applied for Federal Skilled Migrant (Family Class) to Canadian Provincial Nominee and Immigration Services (CPNIS). We are on the process of our papers to Canada right now and the Canadian Immigration Office released our file number to the agency, we have to have to pay US1700 for our file number, unfortunately my money is not enough to pay at this time for the file number. May I know if there is an expiry date of file number? so that I could provide the earliest time as possible to settle the amount? Thank you in advance and God Bless!

Are you saying that your Immigration Agent (representative) requires you to pay them a fee before they will release the file number to you?   You may want to read this http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/representative/index.asp and there is also some good information at this website http://www.settlement.org/sys/faqs_detail.asp?faq_id=4000555

As to your question, the file number is your unique identifier for immigration purposes.  It is used in all correspondence with regards to your application.  It is not a case of the file number having an expiry date but that you have time restrictions to respond to any additional questions or information that CIC requests. Your representative will probably want their money before they do any further work.

I hope it works out for you :)

It appears that OP hired the agency to submit the family class applications, and s/he doesn't have the money for the agency fees. So until the agency is paid, they aren't going to give him/her the file no.
