My fiancée is Brazilian citizen. He has been living in Canada for 2 1/2 years. Her work permit and visa both expire on August 28, 2010. She has completed her permanent residence requirements and the application will be submitted this week (under the live-in caregiver program). She does not have an employer past July 1st, 2010
We will be married July 31, 2010, plan to travel to Brazil for 2 weeks on August 1st. We will return August ~14th.
My concern is that because her visa/work permit expires 2 weeks later (August 28), that the border/customs guard will deny her entry because of the close span of time between reentry and document expiry. Should I fear this?
We will have some sort of declaration of marriage with us from our ceremony.
Her application for permanent residence will still be in progress.
She may also apply for unemployment on July 2nd. Does this affect anything? If it does she simply wouldn't take unemployment.
