I currently live in the U.S. and is planning on migrating to Canada under the Skilled Worker Class. I just took my IELTS and received an overall Band score of 7.5.

FIRST QUESTION:
I read somewhere that I have to get at least a 7.5 band score with "listening" to receive the maximum number of points for English language ability but I only got 7.0. Does that mean my application will be denied altogether because of my less than 7.5 listening score or I just won't get the maximum points for it?

SECOND QUESTION:
I consulted with a Canadian immigration lawyer last year and she mentioned submitting my application thru their Buffalo branch in NY. But then, I read at the CIC website that it has to be submitted in Sydney, Nova Scotia. So im a bit confused as to where to send my application. Do I submit it locally (Buffalo, New York) or to the Centralized Intake Office at Nova Scotia?

Any professional advice is surely appreciated :) THANKS!

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
First:
You will not score maximum points for listening English, but if you have enough points without it you are ok. Moderate score in all 4 IELTS sections is acceptable if you have total of 67 points for your FSW application.

Second:
You have to send all documents with your app. to Sydney, Canada.
You don't need a consultant. Save your money.

Hi,

Read this:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/EG7.pdf

You should submit your completed application to Sydney, NS not Buffalo.
As you are resident of US your application for PR will be processed in Buffalo if approved by NS

Hi Romanopapa,

First of all ...congratulations for deciding to Immigrate to Canada.

Second, we the members of this forum are not PROFESSIONAL....so we can not provide professional advice, but all of us here are very helpful and try to provide as much help as we can. Based on the information provided here on this platform you can make your final decision.

You are wrongly informed about the Listening test result. There is no pass/fail in IELTS...only scoring. For Listening one could score the highest if he gets 7.5 and above. You have scored moderate and will be awarded 2 points instead of 4.

Your consultant is totally wrong. She should change her profession  . You have to send your application to CIC, NOVA SCOTIA.
