Hi all seniors,
We have submitted our passports today to CHC. I have few questions which I'w appreciate if you can give me your opinion about:
1- I have traveled for 2 weeks after they asked us to submit our passports. Do you think this would delay the processing of our visa stamping knowing that they didn't ask us to submit any update of our travel history in the letter of the ppr.
2- Is there any possiblity to be called for an interview after we submitted our passports? I need to do a surgery which might hinder my movement for a while.
3- Can anybody tell me how I can transfer our settlement funds to Canada? What is meant by draft money?

Hi Canonly1,

1- no, no worries, this is not a change in your status
2- most likely no. Once your passports were requested, then it's very unlikely that they won't ask for interview, unless something serious is brought up about your background security or papers verification.

I would say in 99.99% people are not requested for interview after passports submission, I only saw one case in this forum that this happened. Relax and wish you have a safe surgery.

3- funds can be sent in various ways, either you carry traveler cheque, demand draft...etc. Demad draft is like a cheque bearing its carrier to withdraw its value from named agency or bank.

Good luck

Just to add to mezo ...about taking the funds along.....you can open a scotia bank account in india....transfer the funds to your account in canada.....you will get a certificate of account statement which can be used as POF at the port of entry..

Cheers

Good point Gav and nice suggestion. Does the bank lock the account and money in case he declares it Is to be used as POF?

No they don't.....what they do is...they send your application to your desired branch in canada......you get an e-mail from the bank mentioning your account number....then you are allowed to do one remittance.....they give you a certificate mentioning that this much of money was transfered to this account......this certificate is used as POF.....then you go to canada ....you visit your branch....take your debit card...credit card....and check book...

Since you are allowed to do just once remittance ......no other transaction happens bank doesn't need to lock anything...

Thanks brother....The best part about this is ....you don't have to carry a lot of cash n TC's...you get a credit card right away ....so credit history starts going the very first day....more information about this can be found at
