Hello! I'm from Israel,
came to Calgary almost 2years ago, as traveller and after a while
found a job and got work permit. I met my wife and we got married ,my work permit exp.
as well as my status, I got some really bad advice from immigration consulter and I'm still waiting to get my
traveller restoration status (hope to get it soon)
My wife on SFI (social assistance) due to illness. She trying to get back on her feet and find a job.
I want to work as a carpenter (have some exp.) but still can't.
I didn't put my family class application yet because I didn't understand yet if I'm not allowed if she's on SFI
and because I still waiting to get restoration of status.
I don't know what to do? I'm spending time and money chasing my tail.
Where can I find a Job?
Thank you very much.

If you are out of status here in Canada, you are breaking the law. The best thing for you and your wife right now, is to leave. If you leave voluntarily, it looks better.

That said, your wife cannot sponsor you while on welfare/social assistance. Once she is off that, and has been working for a few months and you are back in your home country (and you will probably have a better chance of getting a job there) THEN you can apply. But only then.

Why do I braking the law? I'm waiting to get restoration of status...
I didn't do nothing illegal (my request was sent on sep. 10, cic proccing time shows that they didn't got to my application yet).
My wife just about to start a new Job soon...

I hesitate to say if you are ACTUALLY breaking the law, but if you have NO status in Canada, visitor, work etc. Then you are here illegally.

Thank you for the fast replay my friend.
As much as I know, while you waiting for a respond back from cic
if you have a prof of payment (cic receipt) you are not illegal. And I'm just waiting to get the restoration of status I hope this weekend-beginning of next week
