Federal Skilled TRADES

Hi all.

Does anyone know when and how often the EE draw is for Federal Skilled TRADES?

My husband is a Millwright (Red Seal) and we are thinking of him going over to challenge the Canadian Red Seal.
Is this the only way one can get in through EE or is there a WES equivalent for trades? As in, they assess your Certificate obtained here in South Africa to see what the Canadian equivalent is...?

Thank you all

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
1 - Nobody knows when there will be specific FST draws.
2 - Unless he has a valid job offer he must have a certificate of qualification in order to be eligible under the FST program.
3 - No to your last question.

Hi all.
Does anyone know when and how often the EE draw is for Federal Skilled TRADES?

FST applicants are eligible under any of the general draws. To my knowledge, there has not been a program-specific draw in the past year.

My husband is a Millwright (Red Seal) and we are thinking of him going over to challenge the Canadian Red Seal.

Two different issues.
1) Trade credentials do not require an ECA. Applicants who are fully licensed/certified in their own country are eligible for 50 points on the CRS (in lieu of education points). If your husband also has a degree/diploma from an educational institution, he could submit those for an ECA (for more points).

2) Eligibility under the FST program:
There are two paths for eligiblity - (a) obtaining the red seal in Canada, OR (b) get a job offer of at least one year (full time or FTE - can combine 2 part-time or part-year work, as long as it is at least 30 hours per week for one year).

ALSO - He may be eligible under the FSW program even if he does not have the Canadian Red Seal or job offfer - (Trades occupations are not restricted to the FST program).
