FBI PCC - Can I take my own fingerprints or do I need to go to a police station

I have been trying to find the right answer for this. I called the police stations near me and they seemed confused and unwilling to help. Can I just get the fingerprint card and fill it out myself? I will make sure that I carefully roll the prints.

You cannot take your fingerprints. It clearly states a stamp is needed of the authority doing your fingerprints.

I've heard many people taking their own fingerprints and getting their PR. It doesn't matter whether you take it or you get it done from a fingerprinting agency; At the end of the day, the fingerprint quality should be good enough to be processed by FBI to get a USA PCC.

You can always take your own fingerprints, many people have done that. But the problem is that you are increasing your chances of rejection. The probability of FBI accepting your fingerprints is higher if you get it done by an expert. If not the police, then try to google out agencies in your area who can help you get your fingerprints taken by experts. If you absolutely must do it on your own, try to send them multiple FD-258, and let's hope atleast one of them gets through! All the best!
