Hi everyone
I have lived in the US for longer than 6 months so I do need to get FBI clearance. I followed the instruction on CIC and FBI websites and had my fingerprints taken by the local police department in the country I am currently residing. There is one small problem though before I mail them to the FBI. The local police DID take my fingerprints on FBI card but refused to sign or stamp it. They said the FBI knows this is common practice. Does anyone have such an experience? On the card there is a space for the "signature of the official taking the fingerprints". Thank you!

Thank you. But for me, the police said they would not sign or stamp. Would it be fine if I leave that space blank? They told me to do so and said that FBI knows this fact. Any ideas?

Authorized Agent (FBI), that run's your background check will sign ,and you will receive your printed CARD, along your wrap sheet (SEALED). Then you forward the card and sealed envelope to requested office. I applied from California, I did FBI and State background Checks.

I am NOT in the US now. I am applying from outside the US and the American Ebmassy here advised me to go to the local police to get fingerprinted but they did not sign or stamp the card before I send it out to the FBI.

You have already sent them now and hopefully there will be no issues. As far as the stamp goes, you could have notarized the document and then certify from the department of foreogn affairs of the country you are living in or whichever department applies. I am not sure which country so I cannot tell you, but the point is that you need to appostille the document before sending it for use in a foregn country, I may be wrong, but why would FBI or CIC will beleive that is your fingerprints sent to them until some governement agency verifies it? Not that they are not yours, however you need to certify this.

Hi,
I mailed the FBI fingerprints cards (for myself and my wife) early January. They received it on Jan 12. Yesterday (Jan 28) my wife received her clearance stamped Jan 21. Mine still on the way I guess. I had put early February as a deadline for the police certificate on the application form. It seems they are quite quick!

Well, received mine as well yesterday. So I can now confidently say that the FBI is quick regarding PCCs!
