FBI clearance

Hey everybody,

I am studying in the US and was required to submit an FBI clearance report for the Canadian RP application. The clearance report must be submitted 8 weeks after notification. However the FBI report takes about 16-18 weeks according to the FBI website.

I have already mailed a request for the report to the FBI, stating in the cover letter that the report would be required before the 8 week deadline for the Canadian RP. However I am not ruling out a delay on the FBI's part.

I am a little worried about whether the Canadian Visa Office will take this into consideration and whether they will provide the necessary time extension. I have checked some posts about this but they were dated back to 2009 and I do not know if any of the requirements / processing times have changed since then. If any of you have any information about what more can be done or about the overall outcome, please let me know.
