Hi everyone,

I am being sponsored by my wife in Canada. I live in the US.
I am trying to research on the CIC website. Recently, I have turned in my application, incomplete of the FBI clearance, because of the long processing times that the US currently has. My wife has been approved to sponsor me (YAYYY!) and has now received a UCI.

I have now received my FBI clearance papers. Should I wait for them to request the papers before mailing the clearance into them?

Or shall I mail in the clearance to them now?
If so, where shall I mail it?

I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but as I am sure we are all well aware, there is LOADS of information on here and I was having trouble sorting through all of this.

Thank you for your help in advance.

Send it ASAP, if you wait for them to request it, most likely will cause uneccessary delays, by sending it to them now before your file is processed, the goal is that they can match it to ur application and process it when the time comes, you will save a lot more time sending it now then waiting for them to request one.

Assuming your an american citizen, send it to the case processing centre in Ottawa which is where your P.R application will be processed, label the package additional documents and put your UCI # on the package so that they can recognize the documents to your application.

Can I ask you how long did you wait for your FBI report to be processed? I am also sponsoring my husband from the US. I have heard 6 months wait and others are saying 3 months. Just curious to how long your took.

Mine has taken about three months. If it's been six months, I would try contacting the FBI about the times and status of your submission.

The wait times listed on the CJIS section of the FBI's website are stating 12-14 weeks.

You can call, if you want to find out what day's applications they are currently processing.

Mail it to Ottawa. Waiting until they request it will add wait time to your application. Make sure you include all your information as an applicant.

I might also suggest ordering your GCMS notes. My notes showed that my FBI check had been attached to my application:) If nothing else - lmao!

How long do the notes go back to and when do you get them?

They send you the case notes on your file.

It takes 30 days from when you apply, and then they will e-mail them to you. Lots of people apply throughout the process. The sponsor is the one eligible under the freedom of information act, so you have to sign a consent form to release your file to your sponsor. Here's a walkthrough if you want to order your notes.

Thanks!, ill order them in a couple weeks I see no point right now as my file has only been transferred over to Ottawa last week, highly doubt they even looked at the file.
