Hi,

I live in canada. I need to apply for FBI clearance, so my question is.. the fingerprints that are required to be submitted- do they have to be ink rolled or digital?

Thanks
Kia

Hi Kia,

They have to be ink rolled or at least that's what I sent getting it done from the local RCMP. I'm guessing you have downloaded the finger print form specifically for FBI clearance and you know the procedure...

It took 4 weeks for FBI to process it and approx 10 days for the post to get to me.

Hope this helps.

All the best!!!

Thanks, I know the procedure.. get the prints and send it along with the application form, checklist and payment form. Its ok to get the print on an A4 paper right? I have an appointment with the RCMP tomorrow. Thanks a bunch for the reply.

You cannot use anything but a tamper proof letter from the FBI. CIC will reject anything else.

I have found that the commercial fingerprint place I use here in Vancouver (L-1, a multi-national company that provides this service) stocks FBI fingerprint card stock. I've never found a Canadian fingerprint company that can do US live scan prints (where they scan your finger prints and then print them on card stock).

Oh so does the RCMP use that too? I also had some queries about the fingerprint card.

1. Whats an Miscellaneous No. and whats an OCA No?
2. Do I have to give my complete address in the RESIDENCE of PERSON field?
3. The REASON FINGERPRINTED - Should I just put Immigration?
4. Whats an ORI?
5. EMPLOYER and ADDRESS - Should I leave it blank for my wife since she is a homemaker or should I put NA?

Thanks
Kia

Hi Kia,

I took the "NEW FD-258 Fingerprint Card" to RCMP and my finger prints were taken on that.

To answer your questions:
1. Leave anything you do not know blank.
2. Yes full address of the person whose finger prints are being taken.
3. Reason: I provided this: "For Canadian Immigration purposes"
4. Leave it blank
5. NA should do.

All the best!
