CIC has requested police clearance from the Philippines and the FBI - anyone else had similar requests? Are there standard finger printing services to use - I am in Toronto

For FBI clearance you have to go to designated fingerprinting services like Commissionaires. There will be a fee + HST and they will take your fingerprints on a specific form. You then mail that form to FBI head office in Virginia, USA.

I'm not sure what you mean by "results" - any fingerprinting service will give you the print card at the time you get the prints taken.

Only the FBI can process the FBI clearance.

The process for getting FBI clearance can be found from below link. If you know some one in USA the you can put their address as mailing address, once the report is dispatched they can post/courier you. Or else along with your application add self address Canada envelop with USA postage, not sure how you will do that.

http:(slash)(slash)www(dot)fbi(dot)gov(slash)about-us(slash)cjis(slash)criminal-history-summary-checks(slash)faqs

Along with your application you have to send finger print taken at Police station or some FBI designated agencies in your area.

I have checked the FBI website and am a bit confused. They have an aplication form that the website said u need to include but it is for US nationals only since it has mandatory fields such as SS number etc.

Can you please guide me as to what we need to send from Canada in addition to the credit card info and the finger printing card - I will attach a cover letter but what else is needed?

If you worked in USA legally you should have SSN number. Even without SIN you should be able to submit the form, they will do the search based on your name and finger prints. If you didn't have SSN when you lived in USA for more than 6 months just leave the field blank. It say mandatory but if you don't have one then you don't have to fill.

The form is for U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident, not just US citizens.

I hope this clear your doubts.

The application form is on their document checklist. The form is for everyone, NOT just for US nationals - you see it also has a mandatory field for "Country of Citizenship." and an apparently optional question as to whether you are a citizen or permanent resident.

For the SSN, just do not leave it blank. You can write "N/A" if you never had a SSN.
