Hello,

My friend is handicap. He is leg handicap but he can walk with sticks. He have a family but he is able to work as barber since before his handicap his occupation was barber and he used to work for almost 20 years as barber in his home country.

He currently live in an European country as refugee for almost 4 years. Most of his kids are under age and one of his son's is adult and is living alone in home country and this European country did not accept his adult son to this country because he was adult and not under age which is really stupid.

My friend have a candian citizen friend, close friend. What are his and his family possibilities to immigrate to Canada? Is it possible to get reunion of his whole family in Canada or not?

Your friend will have to take a look through Canada's immigration programs to see if he qualifies to apply (note that applying as a refugee is not an option since he already has that status in Europe):

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp

A few comments:

- It's extremely unlikely he will be able to immigrate as a barber. What does his wife do? They may be able to immigrate based on her profession.
- He will only be able to include his children who are under 19 years of age in the application. Children 19 years or older will have to qualify to immigrate on their own. So - no, a reunion of his whole family in Canada is not possible with one application.
- Depending on the severity of his disability, it's possible Canada could refuse PR.

Hi Scylla,

Thanks for your answer. That's what I thought as well. I think they have chance to get into Canada but not good. The only way I can think is that he could get a job, not demanding, since he can still work but handicapping will not make it easy. I don't know what occupation his wife has but I'm going to ask though.

Another way of getting to Canada is that he could be sponsor shipped by his friend but not sure whether this is a way to do it or not.

There is no "friend sponsorship". They will have to qualify on their own merits if they want to immigrate.

Technically Manitoba has a program where having friends who reside there can help you to immigrate. However you need to have a skilled occupation - and being a barber doesn't qualify. So that's out unless his wife has a skilled occupation and related experience. Their friends would also have to be living in Manitoba.
