Hi scylla
I have a question for you

What is difference between these 2 categories...i.e. family and individual application categories?

I am applying for citizenship next month and my wife will qualify in April. Are there any pros and cons of applying with or without family?

Plz. explain...

Regards

Applicants from 2013 can share their experience whether applying as family has any advantage/disadvantage or issues such as if one applicant gets RQ, does other members are affected? Any families here who applied separately?

If I'm not mistaken, the pro to family application is the cost savings. You save more money filing as family over sending individual applications.

The con side of sending it all in as a family. If one of the application is not completed in full, or has wrong form, all the applications get returned.

As compare to individual application, only the ones with the incomplete application will get returned but it cost more due to separate total fees.

How do you save from that? You still have to pay for each member, individual or family. May be I am missing something? :-X

you will save 20 dollars ( if you send 2 files you will pay 2 times for courier service) :P :P

You are correct. There is no cost savings to sending it all together. I thought there was a separate nonrefundable application fee. My apology.

I would suspect that if you submit the applications all at the same time, the whole family could get sworn in same time and get citizenship together. Whereas if you submit it separately, each person could get citizenship at different times.

Nope, that wasn't my case .. I have NOT submitted school record of Grade 1 for my son. My application included me, my wife, my son and my daughter .. nothing returned, instead, processing started in 2 months, I only got a letter asking for grade 1 school report for my son ;D

I would suspect that if one of the application form was incomplete as in not filled out in full, all the application can get returned. In your case, the application forms were completed fully and signed. But didn't provide all the proofs required to backup your claim which is a little different.

It is no different from those who applied for inland PR. Just because police and medical check were not done up front doesn't mean it is incomplete and be returned.

I think the return of the applications for family is probably due to the application forms themselves.

This an example of what can happen to a family citizenship application if any one of the applications is incomplete. All of the OP's applications got returned same time over one child's missing bio.
