He'll need to start by coming to Canada and securing a full time job that is in a NOC A, B or 0 profession. If he's able to do this, you can then apply for an Open Work Permit to come and live with him in Canada for the duration of his work permit and your children can come to live here as visitors and attend school.

If he's unable to secure a full time job in Canada that meet the requirements, then you can visit him temporarily as visitors but cannot remain long term and live here with him while he works.

Is the open work permit a straight forward process? It's just we don't want to be apart too long as the baby is only young

Hard to say how long you might be separated.

The Open Work Permit process is very straight forward. You could actually come as a visitor to Canada and apply from within Canada.

The biggest issue is how long it will take him to secure a full time job that meets the occupation requirements (it basically has to be role that's classified as a skilled role, so for example working as a cashier in a fast food restaurant won't cut it). Everything is dependent on him securing (and starting) a job that meets these requirements.

Thank you.
He is an electrician and we have family in Vancouver. We are 80%certain of a job for him. This puts me more at ease. Thank you kindly.

Make sure the job is in a NOC A, B or 0 profession as scylla mentionned. An electrician will need to be certified in Canada to work as licensed electrician.

Thank you. He is studying at the moment to take the exam straight away.!
Our situation at the moment is ....
My husband applied for the iec work visa. In the meantime we booked a family holiday to canada for December. Myself husband,2 children and my mother who lives with us.
So we got the visa for my husband and have decided to go and stay in December.
So do I
1 just enter and while on holiday apply for the open work visa as soon as my husband gets s job?
2. Can my mother stay with me or can I apply for some kind of visa for her. She will be childminding. Or how long is a visitors visa? She could leave and come back?
3 when do I apply for my son To go to school?
4 even though we have return flights as we thought we were not going to get the visa how long can we actually stay?
I'm so sorry for all the questions but it's the only place I'm getting answers.
Thank you in advance
