Hello everyone,

I just had a quick query related to sponsorship for parents. If I am a temporary resident in Canada for the years 2014, 2015 and a permanent resident for the year 2016, Will the 3 previous years be enough to show the minimum income threshold or the three years are counted from the day I became permanent resident and I have to wait for another 3 years?

Additionally, does the gross income for the year meets the minimum income threshold or the net income of an individual ?

Really appreciate your Help :)

Yes - you can use pre-PR periods. It's gross income (not net).

You won't qualify to apply until Jan 2018 (unless you worked in Canada in 2013 and meet LICO). For Jan 2017 applications - NOAs from 2013, 2014 and 2015 are required.

Thanks a lot for your response!

How do I find the minimum income threshold for 2015? I can find it for 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Also, How long do these applications take to process provided there are is no further information requested by the visa officers?

Thanks again :)

LICO for 2015 hasn't bee published yet - but will be either this month or next.

I would check the 2016 parent thread for current processing times.

Thanks again

I believe this is the link you were talking about.

The comments there are pretty positive and looks after 2016, the applications are approved quite quickly :)

While the 2017 LICO hasn’t been published, you can make a rough estimate using last year’s numbers and the CPI. October 2016 was the highest since January 2015 at 1.5%, which would set the values up by $365, $454, $559, $678, $769, $867, and $966 for 1-7 persons respectively.
