Hello, Anyone here whose under familysponsorship?
We are being sponsored by my sister.

Timeline 2019
Sponsor Side
1.Feb 23 - Family Sponsorship Application sent to CIC Canada
2. Mar 7 - email received: Documents Received
3. Mar 30 - email received : Processing
4. April 30 - email received:
1) Sponsorship approved
2) documents will be forwarded to Sg CIC office

Family being sponsored -2
1. April 30 - email received : Biometrics Request
2. May 7 - Biometrics Taken
3. May 23 -
1)we started processing your application
2) background check in progress

* We keep on checking daily and it mentioned "we are processing your request/ background check in progressno update for the last 3months.

Can someone let us know the timeline of background check?and when will they usually request for medical?

Yes, it is.
She is single, no children, both parents and grandparents passed away and no close relatives as per guidelines.

Depending on your country of origin, you are probably still about 12 months from a decision. Processing for “other relatives” is about 18-24 months.

We are working in Singapore, originally from Philippines. So it is Singapore office whose processing the application.

They don’t have processing times for Singapore, but the Philippines is 15 months currently. I’d guess about 12 months to go.

You have never been able sponsor only siblings & that hasn’t changed. You are only eligible apply under the “lonely Canadian“ rule to sponsor a sibling if you have no spouse, kids, parents, grandparents etc.

No, is not posible.
You can sponsor an orphaned brother, sister, nephew, niece or grandchild only if they meet all of these conditions:

• they’re related to you by blood or adoption
• both their mother and father passed away
• they’re under 18 years of age
• they’re single (not married or in a common-law or conjugal relationship)
