Hello everyone ,
I have a very important question regarding family sponsorship , so here it goes >>
How can my mother a Canadian citizen sponsor me to Canada to live with her , she is divorced and practically have no family back there. I am an indian citizen aged 30, single,
currently studying full time in Australia.
All the information online is very confusing and i haven't found a way to understand , which would be the best way to look at this scenario and find a way to reunite with my mother.

Thanks for your help

You're too old to be sponsored as a dependent child so your other option is to be sponsored as "other relative"

Option 2 – Other relative

You may sponsor one relative, related by blood or adoption, of any age if you meet all of the following conditions:

you do not have a spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner, or one of the following living relatives you could sponsor instead:
son or daughter,
parent,
grandparent,
brother or sister,
uncle, aunt,
nephew or niece.
you do not have any of the above-named relatives who is a:
Canadian citizen,
permanent resident, or
registered Indian under the Indian Act.

Note that in order for your mother to sponsor you she has to be eligible as a sponsor, I.e. Have enough income to support you and don't be on any type of social assistance /welfare or in default

You'll need to provide more information:

- Are one or both of her parents still alive?
- Does she have any children in Canada?
- Does she have any other relatives in Canada (e.g. aunt, uncle, brother, sister, etc.)?

Hey guys , thanks a lot for the prompt reply , sorry i didn't give you enough details ..

So yes that is correct - She doesn't have any of the following : " son or daughter, parent, grandparent, brother or sister, uncle, aunt, nephew or niece "
who is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or registered Indian under the Indian Act. (In Canada)

More Information:
- Are one or both of her parents still alive? = No only her mother is alive who is aged 75+ In india
- Does she have any children in Canada? = No i am her only child
- Does she have any other relatives in Canada (e.g. aunt, uncle, brother, sister, etc.)? = no immediate relative from her side in Canada !!

Thanks again for all the help

Since her mother is still alive - she unfortunately cannot sponsor you.

If you wish to immigrate to Canada, you will have to qualify independently (on your own) through one of Canada's economic immigration programs such as Express Entry.

There is no such things as sponsorship as a student. You can try to apply by yourself for any one of the streams of Canadian immigration you can qualify.

If you want to come to Canada as an international student, then you will need to start by being accepted by a school in Canada. Next you'll have to apply for a study permit. Note that completing studies in Canada doesn't guarantee you can become a PR.

If you are interested in obtaining a study permit, I would recommend you join the International Students section of the forum.
