Hi there

My wife entered Canada as a visitor (eTA) in July 31 2019 and we submitted the family sponsorship application in Aug 2019 (outland application (third option as per the checklist) but submitted when she was in Canada). She is still in Canada with me. The family sponsorship status is at medical and biometric stage. Her visitor visa is only valid for 6 months from Jul 31, 2019 -- which means it will expire in Jan 30, 2019 (give or take a day or two).

We're heading to USA later this week to provide biometric info for the family sponsorship.

Our questions are:
1) going to USA and come back to Canada -- does she entitles for another 6 months of stay?
2) we do not know our family sponsorship application will be approved by Jan 31, 2020. Any advise on visitor visa extension? Can we state that we're waiting for the family sponsorship application?

Thanks
WK

Medicals are valid for one year.

Biometrics can now be done in Canada.

If she leave and re-enters, she will likely be given the standard 6 months but no guarantees, as it is up to the CBSA officer.

She can apply for a visitor extension and state that she has applied for spousal sponsorship.
