You will have to explain that it is a love marriage. You should show plenty of proof of the relationship during the courtship and when you were living together. It sounds like you should have enough proof.

You can also explain about her parents not agreeing with the marriage. You should show that your parents do approve - they could write a letter or affidavit stating this. If any relatives on her side also approve, their approval might help.

The visa officers in India do expect to see a big, traditional wedding, with an arranged marriage. But in cases where the marriage is not arranged, the couple just has to provide proof that their relationship is genuine and based on love, just like the average applicant from other countries. It is certainly possible that the visa will be approved; after all, not all marriages in India are arranged, and the visa officers will be used to that as well.
