Hey everybody,

I just got my ITA and I had indicated that I'm in a common law relationship. My boyfriend is a Canadian citizen and even if he is not sponsoring me I still had to put in all his details (work history, family...). Even though he is Canadian the application asks if he has Canadian relatives, so I had to put in his parents and brother's details. When I moved to the next step, I'm required to upload the "family member proof of status" of his family members. I really don't understand why I have to upload these documents when he is a Canadian citizen (his only citizenship) and he is not sponsoring me. It makes no sense. Also, his parents were born in Canada and don't have a passport so I hope there is a way to avoid uploading these documents.

Anyone that was in the same situation and can give me some more info?

Thanks!

Did you said yes to following question?

Do you or your spouse or common law partner (if they will come with you to Canada) have at least one brother or sister living in Canada who is a citizen or permanent resident?

If yes, then please say no to this question and you will only have to provide common-law relationship document.
