Family member proof of status

Hello all,

My wife is on an Open Work Permit that depends on my own Work Permit. Both will expire on the 27th of February.
My employer has applied for a renewal of my work permit, but my wife needs to apply for hers.
In the application it is requested proof of status of the family member, in this case, myself, but I still don't have my work permit, and I don't know when it will be ready.
What should I do? I have the receipt of the package having been received at Vegreville for processing and the payment receipt. Are these acceptable?

Thank you in advance for your responses,

Tanausu

Ideally you should have applied for both the work permits at the same time. In your situation you now need to wait for the outcome of your WP application and then apply for your spouse's OWP. Since your spouse OWP is dependent on your WP CIC will not approve it till your WP is approved.

Thank you for your response, astasi.

However, my employer would not process my wife's application or add her to mine, so I had to settle with the current situation.

Now my questions are different:
- Is it possible for me to add my spouse to the application being processed?
- If my Work Permit is not ready in time but my wife submits her application, would she be in implied status until my permit gets approved?

Thank you very much,

Tanausu

You don't need your employer's support for your spouse's work permit application.

- Is it possible for me to add my spouse to the application being processed? - No
- If my Work Permit is not ready in time but my wife submits her application, would she be in implied status until my permit gets approved? - This is a possibility but use the paper application as that would allow time for your WP approval before her application is picked for processing.
