I have an urgent question. My husband is Canadian and I am American. I November we sent in all forms and required documents to Immigration. Today finally my husband received notice that all was accepted BUT they need the Famiky Member form. We skipped that because we have no dependent family members nor any Family members under 22. What do we do? Our kids are all adults and as far as mine are all over 30... Married with jobs and children of their own. I do not even communicate with one of them so do not have contact information. Plus my other two refuse supply any information other than their name and birthdays. None have any desire to even visit Canada much less immigrate. Need advice please!! This is confusing as to why immigration needs any info other than names and birthdays to verify that they are indeed adults. Do we need to consult an immigration attorney and pay just to get past this one point!? I can be reached at cheryldickens77@gmail.com or my husband in Vancouver at davidloveletter@gmail.com. someone PLEASE help clarify what to do?

The Additional Family Information form is clearly listed as required. I really don't understand how people think that this form can just be skipped.

Fill it out. If you don't have some information, explain on a separate sheet.

The Additional Family Info form has nothing to do with family members who are dependents or under a certain age. It is intended to capture the info for applicant's entire immediate family - parents, all siblings, and all children. It is irrelevant if any of them intend to ever visit or immigrate to Canada.

You need to fill this form out for everyone it asks for, no exceptions. As mentioned above, fill in as much info as you possibly can and where you are estranged from certain family members you can explain this on a separate page if you don't know all their current info. The family info is not very important to your own app so really IRCC won't care if you don't have every single detail. I assume it's more for their own information purposes, or perhaps confirming your family is not linked to some extremist group.

Hiring or visiting an attorney to do this is completely unnecessary.

My husband just asked me a question I need help on. He is my sponsor and on the form he fills out as spouse does he put my name as applicant and him as spouse? Also I’ve moved back east to my parents house to help take care of ailing mother. Do I put that address as current address on firm or the one on the other paperwork? Also..... does he list my ADULT children as step children and me his adult children as step children? Thanks!!

The sponsor doesn't fill out the Additional Family Information form.

You need to put your current address on the form and update your address with IRCC through the Webform.

Answered on the form: CHILDREN (Include ALL sons and daughters, including ALL adopted and step-children, regardless of age or place of residence)
