Dear All,

I'm an Indian citizen and canadian PR. My wife is an indian citizen. I want to sponsor my wife PR under family class and the NEW Delhi(India) embassy will process her case. My wife had lived in the USA for an year. Now can I submit the application and all other supporting documents to CPC Missisagua except the FBI police clearence? I will submit the FBI police clearence after couple of months. The reason I ask is because FBI police clearence takes almost 3 months. I do not want to wait for 3 months before to apply.

Thanks

Family class sponsorship request the police check with the application, is says you must "attach the original police document(s)".
Without it the application would not be complete.
So I doubt that you can apply before you get the police check.

But you could try including a cover letter informing them that the FBI clearance is still pending.

Hi prak11

you can submit your application without the FBI clearance and just say it's pending... lots of people do it. Just remember a couple of things:

1. Clearances are only valid for 3 months so you want to make sure it's submitted within that time (shouldn't be a problem with New Delhi as they seem to contact you pretty quickly) - you'll want to wait until New Delhi contacts you before you send them the clearane so you have the file number and barcodes

2. If the visa office does not receive the clearance before they begin processing your background information they will send you a letter requesting the additional document. They will give you a deadline by which to submit it. They will then put your file away until that time has passed and then check to see whether the document has been submited. So, potentially it could delay processing of your file while they give you time to send it in.

Since the clearance takes 3 months to get, if you haven't requested it yet but are otherwise ready to submit it will definitely be worthwhile to submit your application without it and then add it in later.
